NEVOA’s new collection: reinventing elegance.

Nevoa is an ‘old’ love. It was the first Portuguese Brand I visited, when this blog was just a seminal idea. I liked so much to meet Mariana, to see her creations and discuss about her project, that I decided I wanted to do more of it.

When we met in summer, Mariana told me she was working on a new collection. I remember to hope she would manage to keep true to the quiet elegance emanating from her pieces, as she made her move into new formats and colours.

The collection is now out and it is called ‘Be Beyond’. It reinvents the elegance so true to Nevoa’s spirit. A quiet elegance that does not impose itself and is intemporal.

The dreamlike world of Laboratório d’Estórias.

“A long, long time ago, somewhere in the midst of the Atlantic Ocean, there was a kingdom so perfect that even Poseidon, the God of All Seas, became envious.” , from The Canaries of Atlantis story.

I recently visited Laboratório d’Estórias and left the premises with a smile in my face, that lasted for the rest of the day.

Enchanted. This is the word that probably better describes my state of mind at the time, as I was put under a spell. How not to feel this way when you discover a dreamlike world of birds, snails and trees? As in Alice in Wonderland, things are not exactly what they look like and the key to discover hidden shapes and functions is often a privilege for those who seek.

WE WOOD, modern portuguese furniture

A friend looking to furnish her recently acquired apartment and wanting to escape the mass market furniture distributors, asked me to recommend her a Portuguese furniture brand.

I have chosen We Wood because I have been following their work for a while. Their wide range of objects make them a nice destination point if you have an empty apartment and you are looking for good quality, modern furniture. On top, I appreciate the craftsmanship, natural materials and the sort of retro look with a modern twist.

NEVOA, a touch of elegance

The first products from NEVOA that caught my eye were the trays. I am a coffee drinker and a sofa addict. The trays are pretty enough to be lying around and practical enough to keep the coffee cups, cookies and crumbles in their place.

Kith & Kin

Taking advantage of our stay in Porto during summer, I asked Mariana if I could visit their atelier in Vila Nova de Gaia. Mariana met us with a smile, showed us her work and shared more about her project.

Lagrima, a ceramic studio in the heart of Porto

I visited Joana from Lagrima Studio in Porto. Arriving to the address she had given me I was greeted by the doormen who introduced me to the mysteries of the building. The building is a big old garage still in use. It has an old fashion lift with running wood doors and labyrinthic corridors. These led me to the welcoming space of Lagrima, a pale space, with shelves lined with cups and bowls.  I was lucky, because I visited in a day when many pieces were fresh out of production.
