7 dinner tables to keep an eye on!

I was asked to suggest some dining tables from portuguese brands. I was happy to oblige, as these kind of requests are fun to answer and always lead me to new discoveries. I presented five of my choices in the Portuguese Homeware Instagram account. This post summarises it all, with two extra findings as a bonus.

These are 7 dinner tables by portuguese brands you should keep an eye on!

O Céu – Norte

We have already talked about O Céu in previous posts (see here and here) as we like their sense of ascetics and the way they play with nordic heritage and portuguese motifs.

They have a detail that makes them special. In the center of the table there is a little motif, an intarsia, which displays typical portuguese symbols in the shape of animals. Here shown are the sardines motif, although you may also choose the swallow or the rooster.

Mo-ow design – Lisboa

When I look at this table I am always drawn to its legs… Sculptural! They give a sense of lightness despite the solid wood the table is made of. It is definitely a table that will gather a lot of comments from your guests!

Lisboa is available in round and oval shapes. It is made of wood from sycamore (the lighter version) or black walnut wood (the dark version).

Branca Lisboa – Trave

Branca Lisboa is a design brand with depurated lines and a high sense of aesthetics. Their product ranges from chairs to tables, consoles and lighting.

Trave is a sturdy looking table made of oak. Its biggest size is 280cm long. This is more than enough for a long Sunday lunch with friends or a late evening brainstorming about your next business venture!

We Wood – Inês

Inês is a curvy one.  Its shape, wood color, and softness of the finishings give it a dreamy feeling. I wrote earlier about the key pieces of We Wood I would chose to furnish an apartment. I would definitely add this one to my previous thoughts.

Apex table has beautiful lines that seem to fit in every type of decor: from rustic to industrial. The plus of this model: it is extensible from 2m to 2.5m.

You can also opt for a concrete finishing for a darker, quite unusual look.

Trinta por uma linha – À grande e à francesa

“À grande e à francesa” is a popular saying that translates freely by doing things with apparatus. More than apparatus, I think this table has a young and happy vibe. This is what sets her apart and drove my choice to include her in this list.

Trinta por uma Linha is a brand in which all the products are named after popular expressions. It aims at sharing the portuguese culture through furniture. An ambition we can only applaud and support!

If you check their other products you will find chairs “without head and toes” (pictured above) and a table that “holds the candle”. Little stories illustrating furniture which, in case you are not a native speaker, will certainly unveil a bit more of our delicious idiosyncrasies.

Cabana Studio

Last but not least, a one of kind type of table: a reclaimed african walnut dinner table.

All the works of Cabana Studio are one of a kind that always manages to surprise. It is the use of reclaimed wood, the effort to preserve the traces of time, the ability to turn otherwise forgotten pieces of wood into contemporary, useful objects.

Could you live with cracks in your table? And if they were there to remind you that something worthwhile does not need to be perfect?
